Does anyone know if TV Pack will install ok on Vista with SP2 installed?

Did Microsoft release TV Pack to the public (or is it still only offically OEM only?)? Does anyone have a download link that is still active? I've tried a few links I found in old threads and they are broken now.

Cheers!

You have answered your own question...but yes, it installs fine.

There is a far better solution though, and that's to ditch Vista and install 7...its faster, uses less resources, and Media Center works without having to install any extras or hacks, as well as including natively features like HD tv and satellite...just read the signiture of everyone on this site, we are all running Windows 7, and for good reason.

If had a dedicated HTPC I would be using 7 but this is my everyday use PC as well so I'll wait for 7 to be released before I upgrade.

One thing someone may be able to answer; does the Media Center tray icon in Vista ever go away? I've unselected the tray icon option under settings in VMC but it still appears after a reboot. (I'm pretty sure this only started happening after installing the latest VMC updates after installing TV Pack)

Is there a particular reason you installed the TVPack? It is one very buggy piece of software so I would say if you can do what you need without it even if it does mean using hacks then get rid of it. It is just not worth the pain.

As for the tray icon I take you mean the notification icon? If so I a not sure never tried. Is it a problem?

DVB-S is the reason I installed it. And I don't think it can be uninstalled now.
It's not really a problem apart from it being there.

As mentioned earlier by Bartender. Windows 7 is light years ahead of Vista without or with TVPack. Whats more you can download the release candidate for free and use it until mid next year.

Will it be possible to register the RC or will you have to uninstall and install the final release?

Position from Microsoft is that they do not "support" upgrade from RC to Final, however it is possible.
