Hi All,

I've built a HTPC with a Asus P5QL-EM motherboard.  2gb ram... and am using it plugged into our Samsung Series 7 LCD.  PC is running Windows 7 RC.

All is running well, except for, random static on the audio over HDMI.

Sound will be fine for quite some time, then suddenly we'll hear static over the speakers.
This can happen when there is no audio currently being output also.  If it happens when we have audio playing it can result in audio with static, dropping to one channel (right or left)... getting softer then getting INCREDIBLY LOUD! Which is of course not good for the hi fi speakers.

Just wondering if anyone has come across this?  Possibly something with Windows 7?  I don't have a copy of XP lying around to try (and I like Windows 7!)

Cheers,
Grant

Just a quick note.. I've found other people with this problem on the Asus forums with this model of motherboard. Still no response or fix from Asus though. This is very annoying as I can't even email for tech support as they insist on video card details to be entered etc.... and I'm using all the onboard for Sound, Video etc...

Interesting, I've just built a machine for a friend with this mobo and audio is fine (we are using the optical out) to a receiver.

Prolly no use to you.

Yeah not an option for me. Our AMP is a old Sony one.. no optical in. I've emailed the supplier regarding it and hopefully they may have heard of the problem and know of a fix.. else I'll return the motherboard and they can exchange it for one that actually works.

FWIW I have this mobo for my HTPC, also plugged into a Samsung LCD. I have no probs with the audio, but I did get random flickering of the video signal which was really annoying. It would usually flicker after waking up but once it had warmed up it would eventually stop.

I recently installed a video card so am no longer using onboard graphics and it doesn't flicker anymore.

If you need to put in your video card details on their support form, can you put in Intel G45? Cos that's the video card which is onboard.
