Hi all.

I've been on Windows 7 (RC) Media Center for about 3 weeks.
It has been really stable, except for two things:
1. lip synching problems. Occurs with recorded tv, after unpausing live tv, or with playing avi movies. I've read that this may be fixed in RTM. I'm not stressed about this issue at all.

2. it fails to record shows scheduled for 8:30pm on a Sunday evening.
I have two Hauppauge satellite tuners, and two shows scheduled to record at 8:30pm.
Each time, at around 8:25 a message pops up for each show with the following:
"xxx was not recorded. There was no TV signal when the show was scheduled to record."
where xxx is NCIS, or Grey's Anatomy (was the final last week), or tonight it was In the pursuit of happiness.

It's failed 3 times, each time on a Sunday evening. It's never failed for any other recording (and we record a lot). It utilises 2 tuners properly on other occasions.

Any clues?

i've read that the 'no signal' thing is a bug in the RC that has been fixed. i often get that on my setup, although the recordings seem to actually work anyway....

That makes me feel easier.

Can you remember where you read that? My google searches were unsuccessful.

The first post looks most similar, though doesn't offer any suggestions for fix.
One thing that stood out was the suggestion a driver issue - MCE expecting a ready state before the tuner card had finished.

I'm going to play with my test environment tonight, and see if I can reproduce and isolate the problem. I may get lucky.

Cheers

i found ours did this too - I think I have it fixed now (been good for past 2 weeks) - Check the settings for optimizing/updatine MC over the internet. It was scheduled for 8pm on Sundays by default on ours, and while that is updating it causes this problem.

The item "perform optimization" is unticked. Had it been ticked, the schedule was for 4am.

You've got me thinking though! There may be other scheduled tasks around that time - I'll do some digging.

Mine also gave an error of being unable to start the tuners sometimes. I also installed latest drivers from Hauppauge for the tuners and rebooted several times.

Good luck

regs: i read in a separate thread that your set up is very similar to mine (two dvb-s tuners), though my problems are limited to sunday 8:30pm. i'm still running rc at this stage, and will be under general availability.
