Hi Guys. I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction. I just bought a mother of a laptop, an HP HDX 18T.

I connected my HDX onto my Sony Bravia LCD TV (klv32u300a) via a HDMI cable and all worked fine when running media centre. However, once I disconnected it seams like the aspect ratio of the TV has changed and I cannot change it back. I can change between the "normal, wide, zoom, etc" modes but the picture in these modes looks worng. In the "Normal" mode I use to get the normal tv picture which shows the blank bars on the left and right side but now my "normal" setting on the TV stretches the picture. I still get the same black bars on the side but loose some picture on the top and bottom. On VH1 I usually cant see the band name and loose some of the upper screen area as well.

Any ideas of what I did / how to fix this. I tried to search your old posts but could not find the appropriate fix.

Also worth mentioning is that when plugged in the PC desktop also shows bigger on the TV than it is on the laptop screen.

Any help will be appreciated

Thanks

I can answer the second question.

If you go into the screen settings for HDMI there is a option called Full pixel under display area. Select that and the TV will act like a monitor without any overscan and using 1:1 pixel mapping.

As for the main question. What are you watching (ie Freeveiw, Sky etc.) and how is it connected? Via the same HDMI port or a different connection?

Hi Nety

Thanks for the overscan info, will sort that out in the Morning. Its 11:55pm here so will need to get to bed.

on your question
"AWhat are you watching ..... and how is it connected? Via the same HDMI port or a different connection?"

I'm in SA and have a DSTV decoder DSD990 and the link is basically dish - decover - RCA cable - TV. I was connceting the lapop via the HDMI so no mix. The Sony has a mix of possible inpits - if I recall correctly 2 rca, 2 composite, one HDMI and a pc (VGA) input.

Hope this helps

Hi - problem solved. It turned out that the problem was my decoder. the signal setup on my decoder was set incorrectly. I'm not sure how this changed since I had to go online to get the password to find the factory set password (things that make you gone hmmm...) in any case, i set the decoder and then suddenly everthing was back like before.

Could be that some setting changed to the TV to make the incoming signal incorrect.... or something like that, in any case all solved now.

Also, now my hdx is displaying corectly on the TV as well so thanks Nety.
