Had a pixel go on the above tv and to cut a long story short I now have a credit to buy another tv.  Looking at spending up to $5000.

So I'm thinking of a Panasonic TH-P50V10Z.  Anyone know anything about these?  One problem is it will not fit where the Pioneer was.  I can cut the hole bigger but it will be a pain having to get the stopper in again and painting.

What are LCD's like these days?  Any 46" ones that people would recommend?

Any other tv's people would recommend?

Thanks in advance for any comments/recommendations.

To be completely honest I think you'd be disappointed moving to an LCD after one of the Pioneer's.

I agree... I believe that you will be most disappointed with a LCD after having had a Pioneer Plasma.

I think you both are probably right, I was just hoping LCD's may have imporved. Ah well I guess it will have to be the 50" pany then. Better get it while the wife is still ok with the redecorating needed.

I'd have to say that I just bought a 50" G10 Panasonic and so far so good, but to be honest a few of the newer LED LCD tvs are pretty stunning. Have you actually gone and had a look at them?
The blacks are hugely blacker than the 2 year old Samsung LCD I also own.

I'd at least give the LEDs a look if you have 5k to spend.

Looks like Paul Money HiFi in Mt Eden (Auckland) have some - but they look to be $8k or thereabouts:

Actually a google shows these people have that model for $3350 + freight

Would recommed Paul Money for one... email them for a price... very good to deal with.... if I was in your position I would be searching hi and low for another Pioneer while there are some still around... good luck... at this time wouldn't go near a LED or LCD...

Went with the Panasonic yesterday. It was delivered a hour later and then I set it up. From the limited viewing last night I'm happy.

Thanks for the replies and comments.
