Hey folks - does anybody have TVSeries running?

I've experimented with it, and I"d love to have it running properly. Unfortunately, it depends on having the TV Series/Episode data in the recorded filename, and I can't see any (easy) way to get that data. I figure the data would be provided in the EPG if TVNZ / TV3 etc provided it... but again... I figure they dont.

Most of the series metadata start with the series name. This would mean it's theoritically possible to write some logic that extracts the first few words, searches the web for a match with the showname, and subsequently appends the series/episode numbers to the title... Like I say.... I haven't found any easy way to get the data

Any thoughts?

OH - by the way, This guy on trademe, is selling a machine with TVSeries on it. Either he's figured out how to get the data... or it's a bit dodgey to say that it has TVSeries installed.

Last time used this plug-in it was just with video files. i.e. insert Simpsons DVD rip episode to hard drive, name in format of The.Simpsons.s01.e14.avi, enjoy TVSeries Plug-in. Nothing to do with recorded TV or EPG data.

Like you say you'd need to take a the epg description and use that info to get the season/episode number. I can't see that working too well.

I think you'll find the guy selling on TM just has the TVSeries plugin installed. Again nothing to do with recorded TV

Yep, I guess you're right.  Trademe guy has either ripped some content like you have, or downloaded content, or done the hard labour of renaming files.

Pity... no golden bullets :(

Yeps mcraenz is correct here.

I believe he has the TVSeries plugin. I buy most of my pc stuff from this trader (Promax Computers in Hamilton) He built my latest pc a few months back and he does make some excellent HTPC's.

I've seen his HTPC's in action and from what i gather, the files do need to be renamed correctly for it to work correctly. Something i dont have the patience for!
