I bought a Samsung 50 inch HD ready TV (PS50B450) on September 6th. Cost $1889 on special at Harvey Norman.
Very happy with it.
A wee story goes with it...
In Invercargill we had a "Powerstore Expo" on. This is where all the company reps are down giving advice etc on their particular products. So we thought this would be a good time to buy a TV.
First we went into our local Harvey Norman store for a browse and noticed the 42inch Samsungs on special for $1098. Wee thought wow, but the salesman said they were crap and tried steering us towards the similar spec Panasonic that was about $500 more. We then went to the "expo".
I Saw the price on the same TV as the Harvey Norman, but was $300 dearer. I said to the salesman that this TV was $300 cheaper at Harvey Norman. He went to go away and talk to his boss to see if he could better the price. While I was waiting, the Rep for Samsung come over and said Harvey Norman are selling these TVs at cost (to get people in the door) and the salesman at the expo won't be able to match the price. He suggusted we go and buy the TV at Harvey Norman! The Powerstore salesman could't match it, so we went back to the Harvey Norman store to buy the Samsung. You would'nt believe it but the salesmen there almost refused to sell us the Samsung tv. (I say due to the fact they weren't making money on them). They also have specials on the 50inch for $1889, which they said not to touch as they break down etc, and beside it was a Panasonic TV with the same spec at about $500 dearer. We bought the Samsung 50 inch and have been very impressed.
Moral of my story is...don't believe anything salesmen say, as their commission gets in the way of sound advice!!!
Has anyone had such an experience with salesmen? Was I sucked in by the Samsung Rep??
P.S. I did a bit of research of this TV and appears to be a good tv.
