i have looked on several forum sites and all of them say different things co i thought i would ask . from what i can gather to network a pc to xbox you need a crossover cable or a hub/router i have both a crossover cable and a router so id appreiciate any help on how i can network my xbox to my pc that would allow me to send games save and other things from my pcs harddrive to my xboxs (my xbox is already had a modd chip fitted) plz can some body help
-You need a dashboard besides the standard Microsoft dashboard to FTP. EvolutionX and Avalaunch are the most popular.
-A direct connection between your xbox and pc via CROSSOVER CABLE. If you plan on making the connection with a ROUTER/SWITCH/HUB, then you do NOT need a crossover cable.
-An FTP Program or Internet Explorer. It's strongly suggested that you use a FTP program such as Flashfxp(my favorite).
-An xISO program such as Qwix, CloneXB, Craxtion( these are used to make xbox game iso's you do not need one of these programs if you only want to transfer files too and from your xbox)
-A burning program capable of burning isos. Nero, Alcohol 120, and DVD Decrypter.
Estabishing a connection.
You can establish a connection between your xbox and your pc by using the ethernet port in your computer, a NIC, or a hub/switch/router. If you're using your ethernet port or a NIC, you need to edit your LAN properties. Go to your LAN, and then choose TCIP/IP, and click properties. Choose "Use this I.P. Address"
And type in this:
I.P.-192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask-255.255.255.0
If you have a router/switch/hub, then edit your settings to the same settings.
- Now make sure that your xbox IP is static.
-You can do this by going into your dashboard settings.
Xbox Ip 192.168.0.3
Subnet Mask-255.255.255.0
Now, go in FlashFXP (or whatever FTP program you have chosen), and make a new site called "XBOX" or whatever you prefer. For the I.P., type in 192.168.0.3, and for the username type xbox, and for the password type xbox, click connect and you should see folders on your xbox. any questions plz email me. cheers
i have followed your steps word for word and this may sound a little stupid but when i edit my network setting what do i do to exit the screen but still keep my setting i have pressed my white button to bring up the keyboard but the only way i can get off the screen is if i press b or select which seem to make me loose all of my settings i have changed plz plz help im going to kick my xbox :(
hi skater joe. I understand your frustration, which dashboard are you using for your xbox?(linux, evox or avalaunch). I know for Evox there should be a key on the keyboard that says "Done" click that.
my xbxo has been moded with both evox and avaulanch so i have to change both ip adreeses ect so it works and i am having problems with avaulanch every time i exit the keyboard it looses the things i have just changed plz help
Hi skater. If You have the 2 dashboards setup on 2 seperate harddrives then the evox setup should work with no problems at all, if they are on the same hdd then ill have to checkup on avalaunch as i aint to clued in on how it works. get back to you soon. cheers
hi skater. I cant see why when you press the white button to exit it whipes clears all your settings. Maybe try just using evox if you boot into evox you shouldnt need to set avalaunch anyway .^_^.
i have worked out how to save my settings but when i putt the cross over cable in my pc it says it is conncted at my network places but on flash fxp it says connected but shows no files and eventually times out can u help plz?

hi jzcrazy. You are connecting your xbox to your pc sothat you can transfer files too and from the xbox, and also to allow you to use the tv streaming etc (requires a broadband connection) . If you follow the steps you really shouldt go wrong read them very carefully. Go to "connect" ( the lightening bolt) then click quiek connect. cheers
Hey guys,
I feel like I've done exactly what was described, using a crossover cable, changing my LAN settings etc. It even says I've connect to my xbox, but before any folders come up I get a message saying 550 Illegal Login.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
