i downloaded mythbuntu, installed and went thru config, it found my tv card which is a hvr4000 dual dvb-s/s2 dvb-t, however i cant tune any channels either on dvb-t or dvb-s, i can find any settings anywhere to edit transponders, freqs, enter lnb settings etc... how does myth tv know which lnb i have and what satellite my dish is pointed at? other dvb tv apps ive used on windows like progdvb, dvbdream, altdvb etc... ask for this information, but myth tv doesnt and i cant find anywhere to enter this information.
going from memory . I might have left a few steps out
mtythbuntu .22 9.10 karmac NZ DVBT tuning is broken you'll only be able to tune TV 1 2 3 once you get the card working you'll need to add .avenard's repro to enable the extra channels instructions here http://www.avenard.org/media/Ubuntu_Repository/Ubuntu_Repository.html you'll also need to update to nvida 195 glx once you've enabled the repo 1 add the repo 2 update package list 3 update nvidia 195 glx via synaptic or terminal 4 update mythtv
fix for HVR4000 http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/mythtvnz/408423
to add DVD-S LNB settings edit your DVB-S card click on diseqc then use right arrow key, you should then be prompted to choose LNB
Sky dish set LNB to Custom, set type Standard (Voltage), and set LNB LOF Low (MHz) to 11300 if you have a newer sky try LNB: 10750. LNB setting can vary it depends on your dish
make sure you go right through all the setting to finish otherwise your changes will not be saved
go to video source give it a name eg freview choose Transmitted guide only (EIT) this will grab the program listing from the satellite
next input connections map the connection you created to your DVB-S card scan for channels
Add the frequencies for the Freeview transponders, individually in HZ Transponder Frequency Symbol rate TVNZ 12483000 22500000 CanWest 12456000 22500000
DVB-T is process is similar you don't have to do any diseqc settings
Hi there, maybe you can help me as well if you can. I have followed all these steps, the scan found 11 or so channels. Now when I go to watch TV the screen is black, but there is text telling me what channel it is, TV1, TV2, that changes as I scroll through al the channels. Does this sound like something you have seen before?
sorry no I haven't seen that, could be the video card your using vdapu (GPU acceleration) is only supported with nvidea geforce series 8 cards vdapu drastically reduces CPU load with HD something like from 90% down to 10%
are you using DVB-S or T have a look at the myth mailing list you might find answers there
