For XviD playback is it better to install the XviD codec or ffdshow? If I just install XviD codec will I be able to play DivX as well?
Is there a performance or video quality difference between using the XviD codec or ffdshow?

Cheers!

I had the real divx codec once, and it was putting a watermark on things at random. So out that went and in went ffdshow and no problems. Plus ffdshow has lots of processing options that make low bitrate stuff more tollerable like deblocking etc.

You can remove the watermark in the setup options..

+1 for ffdshow, nice and simple. Also works well together with Haali Media Splitter
