Hi,
Lately I have been looking at media players to connect to the TV at home, and also NAS for the network. Now I know there are some devices that do both, so I was wondering what people would suggest?
It will need to take a SATA drive, as I have a 1TB drive to use. Prefferably have USB support for extra drives/sticks. Also HDMI would be nice for the future, but at the moment I don't have anything that uses it, so not essential. Recording and playback via RCA input/output is a must.
As for the NAS side of it, I'm fine with a wired connection as opposed to wireless, and prefferably supports obtaining a DHCP address from the router, as I will assign a static IP. I also need to be able to access it from any computer using a password, not like some of those nasty NAS units that need you to install client software before you can use it. It also needs to accept any type of file, not just media as I will use it for backups amongst other things.
I don't have much money to spend on it, so cheaper is better, but if I find something I really like, I can save up for it.
