Hi

We have recently bought a toshiba satetllie pro laptop and are figuring out all the things we can do with it.

we would like to hook this up to our TV to able to view downloaded files, music as well as streaming programmes etc.

We have a new (bbought within last 6 months) sony bravia flat screen tv.

We have been told we probably need and hdmi to hdmi cable - I am trying to figure out if this is right and will allow me to do all this.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

debbie

It probably doesn't have an HDMI out. You probably need a DVI to HDMI cable.

What model laptop and TV do you have?

The easiest way to hook it up, would be to take a vga - vga cable between the laptop and TV. This is the same cable used to hook up a normal monitor to desktop computer. This will work 90% of the time. This will do the video only.

Most laptops have VGA out, although some of the newer ones have dvi and/or HDMI. So again model would be useful. But is only a VGA plug then a regular VGA cable does quite well. The extra bit you need is cable for the sound, one end, the laptop end will be a 3.5mm head phone jack. The tv will be either 2x rca (red and white) or some tvs have headphone jacks as well.

Check your TV - some newer TVs don't actually have VGA inputs in favour of having DVI instead.
