It is blatently rude and just changes the master slider of the mixer, and mutes the output, rathar then doing what every other app does and handle volume itself meaning I can turn them down and listen to other things.

Since its so bad, I consider it a fault. Is there a resolution to change it to internal volume and mute?

Makes alot more sense to keep it the way it is, rather than the way you suggest.

If it got done per app - you'd end up needing to keep track of every app (ie Total Media Theatre etc) volume settings, and you'd end up with a huge variance of volume setting for every plugin/add on that uses audio. Far from ideal... Might work for a spotty geek who wants to run 15 apps while watching TV, but for MCE target market - I don't think so...

Most people who use Media Center use it as a dedicated STB replacement - so controlling each individual apps volume wouldn't be a high priority. There's probably a large percentage who use it with a external amp of some kind - so volume control is done on the amp, where it should be.
