I do a lot of recordings on GBPVR for the inlaws, the issue is they don't really enjoy watching them on their computer.

What's the most basic, cheap n nasty player I can buy for them, so they can watch the recordings directly off a USB stick? Recordings are only SD so no need for HD.

You could try dealextreme. Takes a week or so for delivery, but it's free and the prices for players are good.

If it's MPEG2 recordings on a USB stick, the most convenient thing to use would probably be one of the DVD players with a USB port. A lot of Philips players have had USB ports, like the DVP3360 which is available from Dick Smith for $99. I see that there is also an Evolution A243 DVD player with a USB port at Noel Leeming / Bond & Bond priced at $99.

I assume since you're talking about SD you're capturing in SD using something like a Hauppayuge PVR150 or PVR250. Then you could just author them to DVD if they already have a DVD player.

I was hoping to use USB as it's quicker to erase something off it once it has been watched.

And while authoring a DVD isn't particularly complex, it certainly takes longer than simply copying the recordings to a USB stick.

True enough but if they already have a DVD player, and you use RW discs, then the only cost is time.
