This is a continuation of my previous thread: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=84&TopicId=45915

In the past I had trouble getting more than 30 to 60 seconds of Target, on TV3 to record at 7.30pm on tuesday nights.  For the last few weeks I've been scheduling both Target and The Apprentice and all seemed to be going OK.  Tonight, however, Target wasnt on so The Apprentice was the only show set to record at 7.30pm and for some reason I had the same problem with this show.

Error message in Event Log, logged at 8:33:04pm, was "Portions of The Apprentice New Zealand may not have been recorded. A signal loss occurred during the recording."

Interesting that it logged that message at the end of the recording window (set to record 3 mins after scheduled end) yet the recorded program contained only the first 56 seconds.

There was plenty of free space on the TV recording disk and no wind or rain that would cause 'signal loss' so not sure what has happened.

This timeslot - Tuesday 7.30pm - seems to be a problem one for me.  Thats two shows, on two different channels that have failed to record in this timeslot.  Seems to break if i'm only recording one channel, but work if two are scheduled to record.

Odd.

To add insult to injury, tried to watch the show via TVNZ ondemand only to find out they butchered the video.  Was ok until i got to the second chapter where they seemed to have dubbed the wrong audio track (think it was from following program segment).

I have almost the opposite issue.
I'm still getting an error popup at 8:30 (last night 9:30), when two programmes are scheduled to record at the same time. I figure it's a race condition where both attempt to use the first tuner.

As for your issue, could it be EPG related? You're using in-band EPG? Could it be worth trying BSE for a while?

yeah, i'm using inband epg. i'm not sure how it could be epg related though, as the program correctly tells me how long it should be recording for.... and also seems to succeed OK when two are scheduled in the same timeslot.

recording a single channel in other timeslots hasnt been a problem. just this one.

As for the error popups... i get them all the time and just cancel them away. My programs always seem to record OK even if i get the popups. annoying, but i hardly notice it any more.

Under Vista the inband EPG used to cause all sorts of issues with recordings saying they would record and then not so it could be the EPG data.

Worth testing BSE or similar I would say.
