We've already has a bit of a thread on this topic, but that one is locked

Anyone on geekzone using a GT220 in a HTPC solution that is single slot and doesn't obstruct cards in adjacent slots. Also ideally one with a relatively quiet cooling solution. This isn't for gaming, just needs to support VDPAU under Linux.

One option around in NZ would be this EVGA model - http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1121/1/ .

Ideally I'd like to hear back from someone who is already using a GT220 is a cramped case environment.

Newegg has several reviews, some of which complain about the noice level.

The article over at Legit Reviews also mentions the noise issue, but states that a Firmware update fixes it

One reason for asking here was to find someone with a known working single slot card that is reasonably quiet.

I had a similar problem with a full length video card overlapping the hard drive area in a Silverstone HTPC case but found the Leadtek Winfast GT220 1024MB DDR3 fitted. Not sure whether it fouls the adjacent slot though. A good feature is it supports HD Audio pass through to the HDMI port.

Might be worth looking at...

I ended up going for a G210 - and havent had any issues - this is however with Windows 7 Media Center.

I am using it for both Video and Audio output.

Single slot, no noise at all (fanless) - however i ended up getting it from Ozzie, as everything I could find here was going to take another slot.

Cheers
