I have a budget of $1000.

Im after a bluray system and surround sound speakers.

I really like the look of the following http://www.magnessbenrow.co.nz/audio-video/home-theatre-packages/sc-bt207gn9k-panasonic-blu-ray-home-theatre.html but its out of my range :(

Anyone got any thoughts on these systems? are they any good?

I have a 50" Pani s10 1080p plasma

Thanks
Dane

Are you after tallboy speakers + wireless rears in particular?
If not... then there's a little more choice out there.
Does it HAVE to be Panasonic?
Normally I'm an advocate for a seperate receiver + speaker kit... then match it up with the BluRay player of your choice.

dont care about size or shapes of the speakers, they dont need to be wireless

I really want 5.1 and blu-ray for less that $1000, I doubt I could go that way with components.

it doesnt have to be panisonic

If you're quick... Sony Outlet has one (1x) BDVE300 priced at NZ$699.95 (RRP $1299.95). It is S-AIR wireless ready and iPod cradle included.

had listen down at jbhifi, not bad, the guy wouldnt match the price and wanted $800 so did himself out of a sale.

At first I told him I could get it from the sony www site for $699 and he pushed the buttons on his pda, came back and said he could match it, then when he checked with his boss the boss said no lol oh well.

Although... technically, you could actually only get it for just under $719.75 from the Sony website.
Pop it into your shopping cart and you'll see that they put freight onto the price...

I'm picking the manager knows this, as they'll come up against web based price comparisons quite a bit. Rather than lose money / break even, he/she walked away from the deal, figuring out that the next person would pay more than $699 for it.

Hmm naa I still think the manager is stupid - regardless of the freight business, if the customer was about to purchase the goods, he should not have let the customer walk away.

Because now that customer is going to purchase it somewhere else so zero profit for Mr managers store.

Taken a step back and had a thought. I like big sound, not too worried about surround and I use to love my old system of a denon 1802 reciever, warfdale sub and cerwin vega 12" fronts.

So i'm out on a mission. Trademe setup of $1000 , will ignore bluray for now as I send bluray from my pc anyway.

sourced the following, should be ok, and no doubt sound better than the satalites

$250 AMP Denon 1803 6.1 90 w RMS

$200 SUB Velodyne 130W RMS

$500 Speakers Wharfdale 9.6
