I'm having trouble viewing the live stream on tvnz.co.nz. This is the stream they are using for their World Cuo games, they also use it for stuff like the One News Minute.

Anyway, using internet explorer (because it's a wmv stream and they require Silverlight installed) here's the screen I get.

I have Silverlight installed, and have applied the 'hotfix' they suggest but still get just the little red x.

I want to use it to watch their World Cup streams, which they only stream in wmv format, so selecting Flash is not an option.

Anybody have any ideas?

make sure you not using a add blocker as it wont work if you do and i would also try firefox and see if you are missing any plugins.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Thanks for your suggestions. Don't have ad blocker on internet explorer. Have tried on Firefox with ad blocker turned off, but it just asks me to download silverlight. I already have silverlight installed, but did uninstall and reinstall to see if it would help but it didn't.

Never worked for me on their site despite installing silverlight I get prompted to install it again. Also their links often seem to pop a webpage in an iframe and just have the same content in the popped up page.

I have emailed them using their contact form, which apparently could take up to 7 days for a reply!

Well, I did get a reply from them:

"Thank you for your email. I am really sorry to tell you that our live
stream is not presently working for Windows 7 users due to a regression
error. Our development team are working on a fix for it presently but it
is likely to be the end of June before it is available.
Apologies

I assume you're using Windows 7 (as am I) and are having these issues...

have you considered using a Virtual PC?

Windows7 Pro and Ultimate allow you to install XP mode and Virtual PC for free (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx)...

If you don't have Pro or Ultimate, maybe you could try the 30 day free trial of VMWare Workstation (https://www.vmware.com/tryvmware/?p=vmware-workstation&lp=1) You will of course need a licensed copy of XP to install on the VMWare ;)

I just watched the Paraguay vs. Spain game... as the live streaming works fine in the Windows 7 Virtual XP :)

All I can say are that TVNZ are a bunch of muppets for screwing up the live streaming... and Microsoft get a brickbat for messing up the streaming in Media Player 12... but they get some points back for having Virtual PC :P

Couldn't be bothered going to the hassle of setting up virtual XP. I have managed to find the direct mms links of the TVNZ streams so these are working fine for me. Not sure if I am allowed to post them here though.
