Just been to HN and purchased one of these TV's after looking at several in the same price bracket ($850 ish).

Anyone know anything about these? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

That would infer that I had put thought into my purchase...which I clearly have not.

It's just an entry level, HD ready LCD from a reliable manufacturer.
Won't set the world on fire, but may well out last it...

you get to take things back to retailers usually so asking after buying is perfectly valid.

Thanks dunners. That was pretty much what I was after.
It's my first foray into LCD so wasnt looking to go full noise but also didn't want to buy a lemon.

So having had the TV for close to 12 hours, I have to say...quite impressed with everything except the lack of Freeview signal at my house (known issue so not the TV's fault) and poor picture quality on Sky digital.

Called sky - apparently our STB is not really designed to work with HD or HD ready TVs and we need a new one installed (small silver one apparently) and an HDMI cable to prevent ghosting.

I thought HDMI cables weree only for HD signals? We don't have Mysky so don't have HD signals going anywhere....very confused.

Probably they want to give you the new decoder do you can use component output. I don't think any of the regular decoders have HDMI out. "HDMI cable to prevent ghosting?" I don't know about that. When we had Sky we switched to component, but I woudn't expect the quality to improve, I think it actually made things worse for us as it highlighted the deficiencies in Sky's product (low bitrate, macroblocking etc).

I've noticed slightly richer colours on Sky via HDMI... but it's marginal.
A new Sky box is a good thing though (if you don't have to pay for it).

Yup - it was component, not HDMI and the picture is marginally better.

the box itself is HEAPS better - small, silver thing that is far more responsive when changing channels etc and appears to have improved things a bit.

Still a pretty ghosty picture though - esepecially noticable when watching sport as the scores show the ghosting quite badly.

DVDs etc - quality is fantastic, so it's definitely not the telly.
