Hey Guys..

I have seen that the Panny XW350s are only $699 at the moment. I just have a few questions before I buy it.

1. Can I use it as a Freeview decoder to view Freeview Channels? I don't have another decoder,.. Just a UHF arieal and a HD Ready TV.

2. Can I view FREEVIEW HD with the recorder?

3. Can I record an AV input and a Freeview channel at once?

4. Would I have to put my arieal cable input into the DVD Recorder or the TV it self, as it doesnt have a built in Freeview tuner? If I have to plug it into the DVD recorder, would it be the DVD Recorders remote I would use to change Freeview channels?

THanks Guys.

1: Yes.
2: Yes.
3: I haven't tried that one... I can't see why not though. Anyone else tried this?
4: You would put the aerial cable into the DVD recorder, this would then decode the signal and send the picture to your TV via HDMI or RCA. And yes, the DVD recorder would change the channel (you'd have to switch the TV to the input you've plugged the DVD recorder through).

What aerial do you have on your roof?
If it's a UHF aerial and you get good Prime TV reception, you should just plug the XW350 in to the cable that comes out of your wall... and bingo - your DVD recorder will be able to be auto tuned to pick up the digital Freeview channels.

If you have a satellite dish, get poor reception via your existing UHF aerial (or have bunny ears) you're out of luck I'm afraid.

As posted above if you can get Prime with good reception you should be able to get Freeview|HD.

This tool should be able to give you a good idea if you are covered for Freeview|HD.

I think your best bet is to go head and buy the recorder and plug it into your UHF aerial.
Providing the web site I listed above is saying that you should have coverage then most likely you will be away without having to do anything else.

If not then you would have needed to get a aerial installer in to sort out your aerial anyway.

Edit: Of course if the site I linked to does not say you will get reception or says it is marginal then only an installer can tell you yes or no.

I don't know about DivX off USB - but my guess would be no.
And if you're running an HDMI cable between the TV and the DVD Recorder, then yes, it should upscale the DVD's for you.
