Hey guys, I've got a Samsung DVD play/Recorder and Video player/Recorder combo, with Full HD Up-scaling.

Just one issue with it, When I record with a DVD the quality is just disgusting! It's watchable, But not very clear at all.

I just want to know if that's normal, or if it is merely a selectable option I need to sort out?

IME standalone DVD recorders look like crap unless on the 1 hour rate - sometimes the 2 hour rate does ok, but usually it makes everything look like discovery on sky when there is movement.

Chances are you have it on the 4 or worse hour modes, so yes, it is normal.

Also if you are inputting lousy video, or using composite video, again normal causes for looking aweful.

What are you trying to record?

As richms said if you're using composite video inputs you will get a terrible signal, particularly since composite suffers from dot crawl.

Not to the tv, to your source. svideo at a minimum since the dot crawl on the edges really screws with the mpeg recording.

What are you recording from anyway?
