Got an email from Apple today to say that the Apple TV I've ordered has shipped and is due for delivery next Wednesday! This is 2 weeks earlier than they originally said.

It will be great if Apple do enable apps for the Apple TV, I'm guessing it will still be a while away yet though as there's no SDK released yet. I'm guessing a January announcement for the SDK with an April 2011 start for apps as Apple always give a bit of lead time with the SDK. It would be good if it was sooner but I very much doubt they'd announce new features so close to launch
