I have a server under the house with all my music on it. Instead of transferring the music to the ipod touch (which sits in the kitchen on logitech speakers) is it possible to just stream the music to it over wifi ? Ive been wandering around the web trying to find something suitable but Im not sure they are what I want.

Effectively I want to be able to hit the music button on the touch and have it show everything I have on the server rather than everything I have on the touch. Is that possible ?

Ive found a couple of things which appear to be suitable but they dont appear to allow me to select the music from the touch, I have to 'send' it from the server first which is not what I want.

The cheaper the better obviously and if it can be done for free then great. It will be used 99% by my wife so WAF is highly important :)

Thanks

Sure - I use...
An Apple laptop as my media server.
Software = TwonkyMedia Server - $28
iPhone app = PlugPlayer - $6.49

It works perfectly for me when docked on a JBL iPod dock upstairs.
The remote allows me to skip tracks etc. But when it comes to choosing albums, there's no coverflow support etc. Still, great setup and the Twonky software works well with my TV for DivX movies to boot.

I'm sure there are other options out there but I've been using the Plex app for a while now and it will definitely do what you're asking for. Its $6.49 on the app store, and you'll need the Plex Media Server running (which is Mac OS X only btw)
