Hi,

I have some pretty average outdoor speakers that I what to be able to connect to to my HTPC so we can listen to music both inside and outside now that summer is here.

The HTPC has HDMI out, which is currently plugged into the TV, 5.1 which a logitech system is plugged into and it also has optical out.

Any suggestions on how I could get the outdoor speakers working?  I thinking I buy a cheap Home theatre in a box system with optical in, hook that up to the HTPC sytem and plug the outdoor speakers into that.

Cheers

I could do that but then I'd have to leave the tv on every time I want to listen to music outside and I'd prefer not to do that.

Just hook the analogue audio output up to an amp.
