This question is in preperation of getting a Vu+ Duo for a new house we are about to build.  I'm set on getting the Vu+ Duo based on great reviews, but due to a lack of knowledge/experience with Linux I'm wondering what can be used as good clients?  I want to use the Vu+ as a server connected to the main TV and have a small/cheap box for each other location like the rumpus room, shed, master bedroom, etc.  Don't want to use a PC, want something dedicated and simple.  Usage will be watching AV files and live TV.  No need for setting up recording etc.

You can never have enough Volvos!

If you are looking for a cheap basic solution, you could try a DM500 - plenty on TradeMe, however these are almost guaranteed to be clones.

It would allow you to watch TV (DVB-S) and play back SD MPEG2 .ts files from the Vu+. However it wouldn't play other types of media files or HD material without them being transcoded first. But if it's only for a second TV....
