Hah I was going to suggest TP Link, had no problems with a TP-Link TL-WN821N (have used it in Win XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and WDTV Live).

However since you had a bad experience with them I guess you'll want to stick to Linksys, Belkin and Netgear options.

from memory i used the same adapter but it didn't like my dlink modem/router and caused my computer to lock up and freeze (googling found many people with the same problem with different modems) so i brought a tp link n modem router but that caused problems with other computers/laptops in the house with unreliable signals dropping out and also causing windows explorer to lock up. have chucked both since and gone back to a wireless g asus adapter brought about 5 years ago that works no problem with win 7, except for the slow data transfer compared to n which is what i am really after...

I've got 2 TL-WN821N and a TP-Link wireless router too all running no problems...

TP-Link wireless dongles are the best I've ever used, can run 24/7 without any connection issues
