I have just set up a new Samsung 7 series Plasma and connected to my PC via the LAN. However when I try to view HD movies that were created on my Canon SX20 camera, it won't recognise. It does recognise older movies (non HD) creasted in older Canon though.

Also I downloaded a movie from iTunes and also can't view this on the TV.

Is there a away to convert these files to type that will be acceptable to the TV?

Cheers John

Have you tried connecting locally with USB? its likely the DRM stopping the files from being played, I have had all sorts of compatibilty issues using the standard samsung software, I've had the best sucess from TVersity media server. Seems to play most stuff.

But if you can play it locally you should be able to stream it to your TV.

Have you updated your software lately? I know Samsung updates often include new codecs etc.

Run "PS3 Media Server" on your PC, that should transcode for you.

Still no joy. I checked out the Samsung manual and .MOV files are not supported, which is disappointing. I tried to convert to another file type using Quicktime Pro, and TV still didn't accept it or codex missing error. Plus the quality was not as good as the original file anyway.
Can play alright on my old 32 inch widescreen Pana though but would have been nice to view on HD.

If I can find a programme that converts .MOV to another acceptable type, while keeping the same quality of the source that would be great.

Use handbrake to convert to mp4 or mkv, which the TV should play. It's free.
