I'm searching for a new projector for a charity I help out with.  They have had a custom mount made that hangs down from the ceiling, hence the need for a brighter projector that can throw an image similar to the current one.

The current projector is 7.5m away from the screen, and throws an image 2.9m x 2.9m.

How would I look for a new projector that could do the same thing, but brighter?  The current projector is quite old so I doubt there would be a brighter bulb available.

Was the current projector bright enough when new? Might just have had its lamp counter reset a few too many times and actually need a replacement.

No it's not bright enough, especially in a sun lit room.

Epsom make a range of short throw projectors.
We bought one for work last year and its pretty good.
Has good compensation for keystoning too.

If you look at epson.co.nz you will see several links to short throw projectors.

You wont need to be 7 meters away to get an image that size.

The issue is the correct mount cost them a fortune to put up, and they don't want to have to move it.

I've been told to find something that works, is brighter, and requires no changes to the mount :/

Cheers for the suggestion for Epson, I'll check them out this afternoon.

Think you may need a data projector for these conditions, more of the higher lumen output style than absolute accuracy or home theatre type PJ. I would start looking at the 300 series Panasonic as an example.

Pm me with more details, I could possibly help you out.

ET: "Did you read the terms and conditions?"

we have a panasonic pt-f200 projector and its really really bright, but more expensive than many others. we're not quite 7 meters away from the wall - more like 3 or 4 - but the image must be 3-4 meters square too

The 7 meters back is going to be the problem I think.

No home theater projector is made to work that far away, and the cheap data ones I have had a play with struggle to get the image size down to a sane size at 4 meters away.
