Hi guys.
I'm interested in a Yamaha Rxv2065 receiver, but would like to run it with a 3D Samsung player + a 3D TV (in the future) - the aim of which would be to watch 3D movies.
Does anyone know if it will offer pass through? Or will I have to run an HDMI directly into the TV, with an optical cable to the amplifier?
Cheers in advance.
DF.

Not sure on that specific model myself, but with Bluray you really don't want to be running an optical cable to the receiver as you wont get access to the HD audio sountracks that way.  Does this model have 3D capable or something slapped across the front of it?

Nothing slapped across it...
And as it upscales both HDMI and analogue imputs, I'm starting to think it won't pass-through 3D content... unless it has an option to do so?
Anyone?

Rxv2065 model supports HDMI 1.4 so its capable to process 3D signal.

Sweet! Where did you find that? I just read through the NZ model manual and I couldn't find a reference to its HDMI spec anywhere...
Has anyone got one at home that they just so happen to have set up with an HDMI 1.4 BluRay player + TV?

Yamaha Rx-v 667 AV receiver supports hdmi passthrough and is also supports 3D and has one hdmi out with 6 hdmi in.
I just bought one 2 weeks with a yamaha 5.1 speaker pack as well and it's great, easy to setup and it upscales as well.
I've got a motorola skytv unit hooked up to it via component and it's upscaling it to 1080i, just as clear as mysky !
TiVo sounds great through it as well as it's generating 3D surround sound from it into the 5.1 speakers.
I also have a ps3 hooked into it as well via hdmi and watching a movie with that is just like being in the theatre.
All in all well worth the $$$ for the system.

Hi All,

Sorry to disagree with the earlier poster, but the Yamaha 2065 does NOT support 3D.

I just bought one (still in its box under the tree at the moment) but the big choice I had to make was whether to go for the 2065 at it's friendly discounted price and sacrifice the option of 3D if I upgrade my TV a bit later, or whether to spend a bit more on the new Aventage 1000.

In the end I'm not really convinced about 3D TV and while the Aventage was a very nice box, for me I couldn't justify an additional $600.

As suggested running the audio separately to the amp will not get you the high end audio formats. What might work would be to get an HDMI 1.4 capable splitter and run one output to the TV and one to the amp. I don't know anyone who's done this, but don't see why it wouldn't work.

What you would still lose though is the return audio channel that HDMI 1.4 supports but that may not be important to you.

Anyway there are some great deals out there at the moment so happy buying.

Pete.

No, HDMI splitter will not work as it will negotiate the worst outputs connected, which will be stereo, and not 3d, since the TV is only stereo and the amp has no 3d
