Hi there,

I just bought an Apple TV box (black one) and tried to use it with my Panasonic Viera TV (model TH 42PZ 85B) but it just wouldnt work. I tried all the suggestions they give you on their website and in the booklet (which i followed to begin with) but all i see is a black screen which leaves me wondering whether or not my TV actually supports apple tv? i tried to look it up on the internet but honestly couldnt find much and im not sure i'd understand it if it did!

does anyone know if it's supported on my tv and if it is, any suggestions?!

Thanks!

On paper, it should work, so either something is broken or not correctly configured.

Check:

Power to ATV (Is the mains socket live? Does the ATV have a power switch? Is it on? Is there a "power" light or other indication that it is getting power?)

HDMI connector from ATV to TV (Correct cable, correctly fitted; try an alternate if available; try another HDMI input)

Correct input selected on TV. (If you have another HDMI source that is working, get that running and then plug the ATV into that input)

It should 'just work'.
Take a pic of your setup and we'll give you some advice if we can.

By 'black screen', are you sure you're on the correct input?
Is the ATV power cable plugged in and turned on at the wall?
Does the small light come on, on the front of the ATV when you press the remote?
Do you have Wifi in your house?
All small questions... but sometimes it's the small things that can catch you out.
