So my parents finally upgraded from their old 32" crt.

Great I'll build you an htpc, I said.

Went to deliver it today and had a little trouble.

I could not feed it 1920x1080 60hz.

Video card is a 8400 512mb, Gigabyte GVNX84S512HP

Also tried the DG41's onboard x4500HD video.

XP and Win7, no joy.

Runs in 1280x1024 ok but obviously not pixel matched.

Maybe I should have suggested they get a HD Ready 1024x768 panel like mine :(

I'll keep searching but though to post here in case there is something simple I have missed.

Will try via HDMI when I get a suitable video card and cable.

They lost the manual and I can't seem to download one to confirm the max vga in resolution.

Note: Win7, Power DVD8 and x4500HD = no acceleration on freeview content.

Does the TV say it supports this in the manual?

I've seen very few TV's support 1920x1080 via VGA, to get this you'll want to use HDMI.

What are you trying to use the PDVD8 codec for on Windows7 for Freeview? There is no need since the Microsoft DTV codec does H.264

I see, better get a DVI > HDMI cable then.
Once I locate the manual it will probably confirm what you said.

PDVD8 was for HW accel, didn't know W7 already had one.
Will retest the x4500hd..

These panels do not accept the native res (1080p) via VGA.
