Hi.

My Topfield TF6000PVR is out of action while waiting for some replacement PSU capacitors so I am relying on my PC for TV.
I am running Windows 7 pro Media Centre with a single Hauppauge HVR4400 tuner on satellite. We don't have DTT here in Taranaki yet.

The Toppy can record 2 channels and watch a third. It should be possible to watch and record two channels from the same multiplex using a single tuner. Can this be done with MC or any other PC software, or is the tuner hardware doing the demuxing?

Regards Allen.

Windows media center can't do it, bit I think that media portal can.

Thanks. If the hardware (Tuner card) can do it I'll check out some software options sometime. I'll put up with a single tuner for now. Will also add a dual DVB-T card when terrestrial finally make it here. May also look at a a terrestrial Toppy or a Tivo?

My Toppy PVR has served well and I have several TAPs running on it which give it a TIVO feel with a better EPG than the native one and auto scheduling features. Hopefully with a rejuvinated PSU it will last untill DVB-T starts here.

Regards Allen.

Is there a free app that will simply create a second virtual tuner and allow Media centre to use two channels from the same mux? It looks like DVBLink will, but it's not free, and I don't need the streaming features etc.

Just a quick comment:

I can confirm MediaPortal will allow timeshifting/recording of any channels on the same transponder with only one tuner.

I don't know of anything other than DVBLink that does anything like what you asked about.

Thanks for the comment mm1352000. I'll have a play with MediaPortal at some stage. and add a couple of DVB-T tuners when we finally get it.

Regards, Allen.

GBPVR also allows you to record/watch multiple channels on the same transponder.

I?m deviating slightly off topic here, but AllenG ? do you have some information as to when Taranaki will be getting DTT?

I?m in Gisborne and there is a rumour that we will be getting it as soon as February, but I have not been able to confirm this yet.

I can't find anything official, but I'm sure when the next stage was announced there was some talk about having it ready for the rugby world cup? September? I've seen no official dates though other than the analogue switch off in 2013.
