I have a Mustek DVD player, which up until now has gone fine. My daughter now claims it scratches DVDs and had trouble playing one while I was away, it was jumping and skipping and misbehaving.

So can  DVD player start scratching discs? If so, can i do anything about it?

Its possible that the drive has become faulty.

Best way to fix it?

Throw it out, go to the warehouse or Dicksmith and buy a new $30 one

We've had two Mustek players.
Throw it away and get a decent one.
Better still get a recorder.

Its not worth the hassle of trying to fix, as others have mentioned, easier to pick up another DVD player. Seen Blu Ray players going dirt cheap these days.......

Also supports DivX.

Thanks guys, thought as much.

Rather than just getting a blu-ray player I'll probably got the player/HDD route, so I'll start another thread asking which is the best!
