So I recently moved my whole 5.1 receiver and speaker setup to a room on the other side of my house. I have reconnected everything exactly the same way as it was connected previously. But now I am having problems getting my HDMI input sources (360,PS3, HTPC) to display on my TV. Receiver is an Onkyo SR-507 TV is a Samsung series 6 LCD.

The main problem is I turn, for example, the PS3 on. Then switch to its input source on the receiver and the TV displays "NO SIGNAL". I can then change the source to the Xbox 360 and that will display fine. But if I turn back to the PS3 that still wont display. Then If I got back to the Xbox 360 it won't display either. But when the PS3, 360 or HTPC are connected directly to the TV they all work perfectly.

I have tried all manner of combinations with the cables and different HDMI inputs on the receiver and the TV. The thing is the 360 and the HTPC will work half the time but the PS3 never works....
This points me in the direction of a handshaking issue....

Has anyone come across this before?...Is there some obscure setting on the receiver I can change?...Im baffled as the receiver worked flawlessly before the move and was not damaged or handled badly in the move in anyway.

Also does anyone know if there is a repair agent for Onkyo in NZ that I can call?..

Hmm - interesting problem.

Have you tried bringing the sources on-line one at a time? ie. try to get it working with only the PS3, and then if you succeed, start adding the others back in.

I'm as sure as I can be that HDMI cables are not in any way directional, but have you tried them the other way around?

I assume that you've checked that the PS3 is set for HDMI output, and that it hasn't defaulted back to some other output mode? I guess it must be if it works when connected to the TV.

My last resort would be to turn the amp off and unplug it, then leave it a while before firing it up again - just in case it's got confused and needs a reset.

Let us know how you get on.

Just an update. I called there Agent in New Zealand Avalon in Penrose. He said it does sound like a problem with the HDMI output circuit. He said this was a problem with the 06 model but never with mine....Looks like I just have bad luck. Taking it into there service center on Friday... I did notice a reasonable amount of heat from the vent just above the HDMI outputs a week or so ago..

Have you done a factory reset on the receiver? You will lose all your settings but worth a try before taking it in.

*update*....No luck with the factory reset...
Have tried basically every fault find I can think of. Will let the guys at Avalon have a look as it's still under warranty..

The only thing I can think of, would be to turn off Anynet on the TV.
Should be in the menu system of the tellie...

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried disabling Anynet to no avail... I beleive this is actually a signal output voltage problem more than handshaking....as sometimes the TV will display the signal resolution and frequency information in the top corner. But will only display a blank screen...then proceed to display no signal.

I had a similar problem with my 606. PS3 wouldn't display and the receiver wouldn't upconvert analogue or display the setup menu via hdmi. I tried all of the suggestions that have been posted above but in the end it was sent back for repair under warranty. It did indeed need repairing and while I don't have the repair docket with me, from memory they replaced about 5 components. I went through the retailer and they sent it the Avalon, although they did give me a call for info on the fault. I found them good to deal with, but preferred the fact that the retailer had accepted the fact that a warranty repair was required.
