Help.

We went out today and brought a Yamaha 467 receiver to hook up to our LG 47LW6500.

We have MySky HDi plugged via HDMI into the receiver and LG BD660 Blu-Ray player all working fine out of our speakers however we can not get the sound from the TV to play via the speakers/receiver.

We have an OMP brand HDMI cable which says it's for ARC & 3D plugged into HDMI 1/ARC on the LG TV and into HDMI Out/ARC on the Yamaha Receiver but no sound. I have turned ARC on in the TV setup & gone through the steps of assigning it an input name on the receiver. Not sure what else to try?

Any help appreciated.

Just to check, you said you have already done these steps on page 69 of the manual?

And the TV audio setup is TV Speaker Off and ARC Mode On?

Interim method is to use an optical cable from TV to AV while this gets resolved.

Edit: LG Manual DL complete, and updated TV suggestions.

Thanks, yes I have completed those steps in the manual.

I have sort of got it working now by switching on SimpLink on the LG TV & telling it to play sound through the AV Receiver.

The whole set up is now really difficult for the kids to use though.

Shouldn't be that hard should it?
What are you playing on the TV exactly? MySky?
If so... then you're not technically using the ARC process...

Is your setup the same as below?

MySky --HDMI--> Amp (HDMI 2)
BluRay --HDMI--> Amp (HDMI 1)
Amp --HDMI--> TV (ARC HDMI 1)

That means, when you press 'TV' on the remote, or the front of your amp, the MySky picture shows on the TV, with the sound coming through the amplifiers speaker.
If you press 'BD/DVD' on the amp or remote, the sound should come through the speakers, with the picture on the TV.

Are you trying to play Freeview HD on the TV? Or USB movies?
If so, then, and only then will you have to use the ARC function...

Yep that's the way I have got it hooked up but I had wanted Freeview to be able to play sound, just in case it was needed.

MySky to HDMI 2 (amp)
Blu-ray to HDMI 1 (amp)
Amp HDMI out/Arc to HDMI 1 Arc (TV)

Wii is currently in TV but I tried it in amp.

With the Wii, originally it was plugged into the amp but I couldn't get a picture so now into the TV but no sound unless I use Simplink.

I've never been able to get MySki coming through when I push TV on the front or remote, as that comes in as AV4 & MySky is in HDMI2, it would be great if I could though.

Yay I've now got it so TV on the remote is MySky, but not sure about the Wii still and the ARC still isn't working.

I'm actually wondering if I should return the Yamaha RX-V467 & get the Onkyo TX-SR578 which I was offered for only another $20, hopefully this might solve my ARC issue. Anyone got any opinion on the Onkyo TX-SR578 vs the Yamaha RX-V467.

The Yamaha has a black pink line on the inside of the LCD panel which is really annoying so I could probably return it based upon that flaw.

The Wii should be an easy fix, just plug it into the back of the receiver (the red / white / yellow go into the 'in' ports) - then a single yellow cable travels from the amp to the TV.
When you want to use the Wii, turn the amp to the appropriate input, then turn the TV source to the AV input you plugged the yellow cable into... the TV should pick up any new inputs, so that's a breeze really.

Or...
Grab an optical cable, plug it into the TV, then the amp - and you'll get surround sound when watching Freeview / using your Wii.

Thanks for all your help, I went back into Harvey Norman today and they couldn't work the ARC either so gave me an optical cable at no charge, really nice of them. They also exchanged the flawed receiver for a new one.

When I have run a wii thru a reciever in the past, it added so much lag it was unplayable. As it only has analog out, there was no way for the TV to return it to the reciever over optical. They may have sorted that out with the ARC in HDMI, but ended up running an analog from the TV to the tape in on the reciever to get sound.
