Hey i was wanting to get a DVB-S2 card with dual tuners. Does anyone have any recommendations? It needs to be PCI-E and also if there was a suggestion on where to buy it would be helpful
My experience with TBS support has been excellent. Products well supported. Blackgold have also been "okay" with support - I don't own a card. Products well supported, but no advanced features like CAM/CI, and DiSEqC may/may not work. No personal experience with Tevii as yet. My impression is that they are okay. The Technotrend card is not recommended for compatibility and cost reasons, but aside from that no experience with Technotrend support. I do own an S2-3200 + CI and it works really well. I find the Digital Devices options quite confusing (hence my somewhat non-specific product name), however you may like them. Support seems to be good, but I've never owned a card and I don't have personal experience. Mystique - unknown. May as well buy Digital Devices if you ask me.
There is also a KNC One card (http://www.knc1.de/gb.htm), Prof card [TBS clone] (http://www.prof-tuners.com/), and DigitalNow (http://www.digitalnow.com.au/ - my experience with them has been excellent) are claiming that they will be releasing a card this month...
NiceGear.co.nz have the Tevii S480 listed, Hads is a top bloke and you'll be hard push to get better customer service.
I bought a Technotrend card from him, I don't like it but that could be more of a PEBKAC issue. Would avoid this brand. I'm thinking about a TBS 6981 myself from ebay to replace the Technotrend.
Eeeek, folks I just remembered that some TBS cards have shown compatibility problems with certain Gigabyte motherboards. I think they've resolved that now, but I just wanted to make sure all the information is on the table.
@gumdigger No, not unless you have Sky with an HD ticket and are willing to break Sky's T&Cs. You want a dual DVB-*T* tuner (T stands for terrestrial) like the Hauppauge HVR2200.
Hi, has anyone in NZ used the Cinergy + CI for DVB-S with mediaportal? Am interested in how well (or not) it works. What I'm looking for is an S2 card with a CI module, supports multichannel decoding (am happy to get a multi tuner card if necessary), works in New Zealand with mediaportal! Short list I know but any feedback welcome. Thank you.
It's on the MediaPortal supported cards list with CI support. The question is what are you going to put in the CI slot? I guess that's most likely where the headaches will come.

Being relatively new to this I'm still finding out the possibilities are. I'm looking for a tuner + add on that I can put an NZ decoder card into as I've only had to fiddle with DVB-T and freeview to so far. I'm presuming an NZ decoder card will go into the CI slot???? Am I way off beam??
When you say decoder card I'll assume you mean Sky? In the CI slot you need to put a CAM and in the CAM you put the card. I don't know of anyone in NZ doing this however check the sticky threads at the top of the HTPC forum.
