Hi folks,

The inevitable has finally happened - our TV remote is missing! We're quite ready to blame the dogs now. The TV is a Bravia KDL-40EX500, and our Bluray player is a BDP-S370. What's really annoying is I can't use the numeric pad on the Bluray remote to change channels on our TV. Is this possible by any chance?

I guess the question is, where is the best/cheapest place to buy replacement remote. Short of buying a replacement remote is there a way we can use the S370 remote to control the TV, or any other remotes perhaps?

Taa muchly,
D.

logitech harmony range will be fine, you should be able to get a basic one for around $70 - 90 or so (Harmony 525). Uses your pc to define how you watch things then d/loads the appropriate codes.

Can take a bit of time to get right, but well worth it

Your BDP-S370 owners manual
http://store.sony.com/wcsstore/SonyStyleStorefrontAssetStore/pdf/warranty/SEL-asset-185224.pdf

It seems that both your TV and player are "Bravia Sync" compatible. Are you running the Blu-ray player to the TV through HDMI? You might need to enable the "Bravia Sync" setting on both the player and the TV?
That might enable the numeric pad to control the TV?

HTH :)

Hah! Thanks for reminding me - I dug up an old Harmony 520 I bought many years ago. You're right, it's a pain to set up. This time I didn't bother with Activities and just set it up to use for a single device. Laughing

Where abouts do you live? If you're in Chch, a lot of the retailers may have spare remotes left in boxes after TV's were trashed in the earthquake... just an idea on where to find a cheap remote.

That's a great idea actually - especially since I do live in Christchurch, well, near enough :) I work in Christchurch. Will check out a few retailers! Cheers for that.
