Hello,

Just a quick question regarding how to setup my 10.MX sub.
Using my Pioneer VSX 920 set up mic it has the Sub level at +4.5 db whereas everything else is around 1-1.5 db.
Also i have the crossover set at 80 on the amp and 55 on the sub should these match?
I know Rollux has the same system pretty much but any suggestions would be great.

The main thing is you are happy with how it sounds!

In regards to the crossover frequency, if everything below 80 is fed to the sub, but the sub is set to cut off everything about 55, then you are losing everything between 55-80 to nowhere. I'd suggest setting the sub crossover as high as it will go, then adjust the crossover frequency at the amp until you are happy with the resulting sound.

I'm tempted to say set everything to max for a laugh....

But yeah, as above, set the cross over frequency on the subwoofer up to say 100 or so and then redo the mic setup on the receiver.

The receiver crossover setting sends all sounds below this to the subwoofer.

The subwoofer setting blocks all sounds above this.

As you currently have it, the receiver sends say 70HZ to the subwoofer but the subwoofer blocks it as it is above 55, leaving a big hole.

Don't forget you have independent sub level on the sub too!
Mine is 80Hz receiver 85Hz sub (closest to 80)
This allows the sub to help out the fronts in bass heavy scenes (explosions etc) and gives the V8 supercars the rumble they deserve
With my sub level on the sub set to 75% the macc sets the amp to +4, with my rears at +5.5, centre -1 and fronts about 0.5 apart
This just allows for the less than perfect layout that most of us have.
I do find that the sub is a bit high sometimes so have reduced the level on the sub by about 5-10% to set it for MY tastes. But that may not be YOUR taste, so play and see where you like it.
A friend who is a self professed audio guru has all the bass settings set to MAX (with a 15" sub!!) I personally hate it with a vengance, but hey, it's his house, his system so he can have it how HE likes it.
The recommended settings are a good start tho to tweak from :)

Hi Rollux,

Do you have the Sub on plus?
Also do you use the Loudness and sound retriever settings?
They sound really good with cds,ipods etc.
I have put my speakers on Bass+2 and treble at 0.
Still fine tuning here and there but overall very happy with everything.

All else is set as the MACC set up. My receiver is connected via my HTPC which handles everything - music, movies, TV, bluray etc so all EQ settings are app specific thru the HTPC. I have left the amp alone because I don't use any other features of it really.

I had a bit of a look around on the net yesterday as i only got output form the sub when set to plus.
If you set all speakers to small then it will output when set to yes.
Seems a bit weird as the fronts can handle bass but the sub does sound less boomy now.
