Hi Guys – have a problem that I need some help with...

I'm running MediaPortal 1.2.0b on Windows 7 x64 SP1 with a BlackGold BGT3595 dual DVB-S2 / DVB-T tuner card. My preference is to use the HD DTT channels so I have the DVB-T tuner listed as the highest priority, and have combined all the DTT channels with the same DVB-S channel in order to get the guide. This works perfectly for all channels, except TV3, Four, and Maori. These are just blank, or at best might have SOME data in the future.

I have tried everything to resolve this, re-scan all channels and the re-combine, but nothing seems to work. What makes it weird is that TV3 and TV3 + 1 are on exactly the same transponder and TV3 + 1 has a guide, but TV3 doesn't.

Anyone else seen this problem before?

further to my previous post, I have noticed that there appears to be placeholders in the channels that are missing in the form of full stops. The placeholders appear to be the right lengths for the times of shows, but instead of the names, there is just a "."

Could this be a database issue?

Have you:
Disabled EPG grabbing on the DVB-T cards
Enabled EPG grabbing for all channels under DVB EPG

Thanks for your reply Rhys.

I can confirm that EPG grabbing is enabled for all of the channels, however I am unsure if I have disabled it for the DVB-T cards. I will need to check this and report back.

Well, I checked and EPG grabbing was enabled on the DVB-T card. I have disabled so will report back on my findings. Is there an easy way to trigger a EPG download for a specific channel???

Hmmm... well, I un-checked the Grab EPG option for the DVB-T tuner cards, but this has not made a difference. When I think about it, if I have the EPG for channel One and 2 then I should probably have it for 3, 4 and Maori.

Any other suggestions? This is doing my head in!

Hmm yeah it is odd. Are you 100% sure those channels mapped to the dvv-s card. Look at TV3 it should have 2 tuning details, one for DVB-T and one for DVB-S. Now check the card mapping - has the DVB-S card got TV3 mapped to it? You could also force a epg refresh under manual control.

I am 99% sure, but I will check again. Might even do some copy and paste of screen captures...

Hi - not looking good for me. I've checked all settings and here are the screen dumps. It all looks fine to me, and all the other channelss getting an EPG are testiment to the settings being right. Any help appreciated:

Hey, got a screen shot of channel mapping for DVB-s card? Also if you do a refrsh dvb epg does it clear the epg? And then when it re-grabs do you end up with the same results?

See the above for the mappings. It really is strange as if I have a look at the guide now, it looks like there are all the spaces for the programs, i.e. the time slots are all there, just no program name in them, except for a full stop. It's almost like there is an error in the database and the data isn't sowing, but the times are.

Ok, I did an EPG refresh by doing the following:

TV Server Configuration
Manual Control
Refresh EPG

Straight away the entire EPG had "No data avaliable", and slowly over the next 15 - 30 minutes it all started to re-generate, including TV3, FOUR, and Maori.

Interesting though, when I look at the EPG now, I can see that all channels have 7 days worth of guide data, however when I look at the formentioned channels, they only have 5 entries and the rest is blank???

This is really doing my head in!

Is there a log I could look at / upload to give some clues as to what's going on here???

blur, please clear the EPG and post your logs (showing the EPG as it is grabbed) using the watchdog.

[Edit: and please tell us which of (1) the timeshifting and/or idle EPG grabber you have enabled, and (2) whether you only have "grap EPG only for the channels on the same transponder" enabled.]

hmmm this is very strange, it really looks like it's still grabbing epg for those channels from DVB-T. hence the "Now & Next" data.
