I find the pioneer VSX521K audio receiver on 3deals.co.nz for $400. Is that any good?

Not really IMO.
A basic entry level model that is available in USA around NZ$280.
Doesn't appear to be an Australasian model
JB HiFi has the VSX520VK (local model) at $423.

Pretty much entry level...
Not the easiest to navigate, sound is pretty average (non-discrete amplification)...
It IS a NZ model though, the VSX520 is the older version.

For the money, it seems like a good deal. But when you factor in shipping / only one year backup... I'd actually recommend JB's clearance of last years model, as there's very little to separate the 2 receivers.

Thank you, I guess I will save up some money and wait for a better model in discount.
