Does anyone go to the trouble of correcting for the 4% PAL speedup when they play PAL movie DVDs that originated at 24fps?

It sounds like a good idea, 4% is not a lot, but why not see the movie as it was intended. VLC can be set for a playback speed of 0.96 normal, and as far as I can see, does the job nicely. Sound is back to the right pitch, the pictures move as intended, and the movie is 4% longer. Is there some snag that I?m missing?

I think Reclock can also do the job, but it sounded too complicated to set up, for me. Are there any other programs that will correct for the speedup?

24p plays faster on your TV as well. It is only very old movies that are in 24p.

That's what I was wondering.

The movie directors would probably prefer us to watch their films at the correct speed though. However, it's nice that Blu-ray has solved the 24/25fps difficulty.

If you use reclock you can slow them down to 24p which is what they are supposed to be at.

Google reclock

Yeah if it's noticeable to you, setup reclock.

And TV shows. CSI etc are all upsped too compared to the torrented version.

Does the slowdown work ok when outputting 24Hz and not have any judder etc - does it vsync properly etc?

I've tried Reclock now. The PAL slowdown works well, and is easy to implement. Reclock really likes 24fps output!

As for vsync, there seems to be some restriction which isn't allowing that option. Greyed out. May be to do with my monitor refresh rate? I need to investigate that some more, but in any case judder wasn't bothering me. Perhaps there isn't much?

Using MPC-HC.
