Will 2.4Ghz AV transmitters interfere with my wireless internet?

Did for me. Couldn't work out why a couple of machines could not connect to my Wireless router and/or got constant dropouts. Turned off the wireless transmitter and the problem went away! Also have problems with a 2.4Ghz cordless phone.

The spectrum is way too crowded. I have a 802.11a network also and besides being much faster than 802.11b is at 5Gz so no interference. Might switch the whole house to it :)

I initially has problems with my WiFi interfering with my wireless AV transmitter. All I did was change channel on my WiFi AP until I found a channel far enough removed to not interfere. It all works perfectly now.

I have a 2.4GHZ sender and reciever (DSE). Works BRILLIANTLY.

Initially some bad interference making an unbearable clicking noise plus thick bands through picture. Traced problem back to my late model Uniden Cordless Phones (the base unit actually).

Ditched those, bought a 1.9GHZ Skype Dualphone, and now all is well.

From my experience both 2.4GHz AV senders and 2.4GHz cordless phones can give you grief with Wifi circuits. If you persevere you can work you way around them by shifting channels etc, but I always recommend that folk go for 1.8GHz DECT phones and Jaycar do sell 5.8GHz AV senders AR1840 and AR1841 but they do fetch a price more than 2.4GHz ones.

Whilst AV senders can work pretty well if you can try run some cable, 15-20meter lengths of RG59 will provide superiour composite video than most AV senders, and some simple shielded audio cable will transport audio similar lengths with little grief especially if you can avoid running parallel to mains cables where possible.

As far as Sky is concerened my little AV sender from DSE provides awesome audio and picture quality. This is considering that I have a 3 story concrete house and the transmitter is on the ground floor and the receiver is on the top floor.

Forget the cables.

Thanks for the replies all. The reason why I'm asking is because I thinking about getting a pair since I already have Sky multiroom, and I really don't want to spend $180 a month for another additional decocoder. Is the AV transmitter from DSE, DSE branded or is it the GigaAir one?
