Friend is thinking of going in and getting one of these - any one got one and know if it really is too cheap to be any good? Its for sport etc off at the moment a SD skybox till HDMI gets sorted out around their house.

That's pretty cheap presumably the model is end of life now having been out for quite awhile they are probably bringing in a new range soon.

I have the 46EX500, I would say the EX500 series has very good colour and picture quality, latency for gaming is fine in "game mode". Freeview works well. USB media features in the tv I don't really use (we have a PS3 and WDTV Live + pc) but I've heard they're average and don't support many file formats, not a factor for me.. might be a factor for your mate.

I'd hit it.

Your link seems to be missing the href, here's fixed one

That is a good price, cheaper than I can get one from our supplier ATM.

Appalling customer service at JB Hi Fi, bought a camera from them which started acting up a month after I bought it, took it back and they wouldn't give me a replacement had to send it away to get looked at. Wouldn't even give me a loan camera. Am currently waiting for 6 - 8 weeks for it to return. Useless, will never buy from them again. Missed out on heaps of photos with our baby girl as a result.

Heh loan camera? I think you may be expecting a bit much unless it was a $5000 DSLR. They likely made $20-30 on your camera if they were extremely lucky. Would you seriously offer a loan for $30 profit?

I've never been offered a loan camera from any retailer.

and did you seriously miss out on pictures of your baby girl because your camera was in the repair shop? surely buying a new camera for $100 or something would have been better than missing out on those pics.

I got a smaller Bravia - and I paid more for it!  That model is a current model - not an end of line.  So it is a good deal!

However, I would hold off till the end of the world cup. THere are such an Oversupply of big TV's - and My guess is that you can pick them up even cheaper.

Loan fridge yes, even a loan TV perhaps, but camera? Never heard of that. Anyway, keep it to feedback on the TV, or other large cheap alternatives please?

Yeah, thats kinda why they want a large TV so waiting till after its not viable ;)

Seems to be expected that electronics crap out quickly and its just tough luck these days. Pretty poor that the consumer has to suffer inconvenience for it. There used to be guarantees not long ago.

If your talking about the guy with the camera he is getting it replaced/repaired under guarantee. Some places might do more to look after a customer but I would suggest only when they have built that extra support into their margins and even then is entirely up to the retailer. A place like JB Hifi do not have those margins. I think he/she had unreasonable expectations myself.

It is amazing just how cheap TV's are getting now. That seems like a good buy.
