I'm in Christchurch tuned to Sugarloaf and found a channel named "Private TVNZ News Comms" which is not on the EPG while using software which dumbed the MPEG transport stream.

Is there any way to manually asign it a slot in my MCE EPG. If not is there other software which would be better suited to tuning these channels

Even if there is nothing useful on that particular channel, I'd still be interested to know how to go about accessing streams not assigned an EPG slot as I find some of the testing stuff that pops up from time to time interesting.

Hi

There are various random "hidden" channels for system software updates - Panasonic Blu_Ray SSU, Strong-Sommet SSU etc. Also a couple of MHEG test channels. There is a reason why they are hidden; being data services, they are completely irrelevant to the program guide. The MHEG channel(s) may become more relevant in the future. The private TVNZ news comms channel seems to be an encrypted "radio" channel. Again, there is no way or reason that I know of to actually listen to it so I'm not sure why you'd want it in the guide.

As a general question: how do I add hidden channels to the guide in WMC?
No idea.
