Hi and thank you for reading this post Im just wondering if my GPU tems are normal and what temps are you getting with your 8500GT silent. I got a case with good cooling and my last videocard used to run at C37-39 while watching |HD content however this 8500GT silent it runs at a hot C53-57 while playing |HD content. Is that normal or should I reapply thermal compound to it?

cheers

Andy

As pointed out in your thread on this very issue a couple of weeks ago there isn't a lot you can do except place a fan very near the heatsink. I've cooked two of these cards in my PVR, they simply aren't made for high duration use.

Great performance siltent cards, but they will have a finite life.

sbidle: I do remember that in the post of this cards having a short life and as silent cards they run a bit hot but 54 idle i thought was too hot. If I play CSS with all on high the image in game is smooth and looks as good as my old 9600GSO did but when i check temps wow running at 65C at mid day at 61C at night.

If this card dies I will replace it with my old  9600GSO 768mb card but will have to buy another cooler to avoid the noisy single slot cooler PNY put on it as it is the same as the 8800gt noisy one.

cheers,

Andy
