A problem I'd only expect to see when grabbing Freeview EPG on DVB-T. Started getting a few holes in EPG so forced a full refresh. Now only getting now and next data for all Sky channels. Channels like SBS and Nine etc are getting full data! Anyone else out there with the same issue? Has Sky changed something?

Didn't notice anything wrong tonight on my setup.
I'll check in the morning.

No problems here. Guide is still filling itself up as normal.

How did you get on? Is it working again?
I have a question for you.
How do I tell mediaportal to use the epg data from the sd channels for the hd channels?
Tv1 hd, tv2 hd etc only have now and next.

Hi mate

Check out this thread. The first requirement is that you need to combine the HD and SD channels. Disable EPG grabbing on the DVB-T tuners in the tuner properties. After that all the configuration is in the DVB EPG grabber config. Tick "grab EPG only for channels on the same transponder", enable the idle EPG grabber and disable the timeshifting EPG grabber. You may also need to make sure that you enable grabbing on all the channels. Don't hesitate to sing out if you can't get it working.

Great thanks. I'll have a read of the thread.
I can tell you though that I don't have any dvbt tuners only dvbs and dvbs2.

I also tried combining channels but which way do I combine?
I would like to keep both sd and hd channels in the guide as one of the clients I use can't handle the hd stream.
Would just like a way to tell mp to use the guide data from one channel on another.

Hi again

I can tell you though that I don't have any dvbt tuners only dvbs and dvbs2.

Ahhhh, sorry I thought you were referring to Freeview Sat and Freeview HD. I should read more carefully.

I also tried combining channels but which way do I combine?

I've just checked with the EPG Collector and it looks like there is EIT EPG for both versions of the channel on 12519H.

I would do the following:
1. Keep separate channels.
In my opinion combining of channels is one of MPs weaknesses. Not that you can't do it. Just that when you combine channels you don't have the ability to specify that particular clients should use particular versions of the channel like you are asking for.

2. In the DVB EPG section of TV Server configuration enable either or both of the EPG grabbers (idle and timeshifting), and ensure that "grab EPG only for channels on the same transponder" is *not* ticked. This is important because we want to get the EPG from a transponder (12519H) that doesn't actually broadcast the channel.

3. In the TV EPG grabber subsection underneath that enable grabbing on any one of the 12519H channels (Sky Movies, Cartoon Network, 63, Sky News, CTV 1 or Preview) and disable grabbing on all other Sky/Freeview channels. That ensures that EPG is grabbed from the correct transponder. The final thing would be to ensure that "store data only for selected channels" is disabled.

PS: mods, the timeout on posting is frustratingly short. I often lose my posts because I have to think long enough about my answers that my login times out. Any chance that you could bump the login timeout up even just a little?

And I have just proved that the method that I previously suggested will not work - full guide for everything except the HD channels which only get now/next. I'm testing a different configuration so standby for results...

Okay, so it seems Sky only broadcast now/next info for their HD channels. If you want a full EPG to show for those channels in MP that basically means you'll need to use the XMLTV plugin. We have no other sure-fire mechanism for doing what you want.

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply. All my guide data eventually came back with the exception of the HD versions of 1,2,3 on sky which are only getting now and next - exactly as mm describes above.

So is there a way to get the guide data from MP into an XML file that can then be used with the XMLTV plugin?
Or do I have to try and figure out how to use EPG Collector and turn off EPG in MediaPortal?

Yep, I think your best option is EPG Collector (it isn't really that hard) unless you can find an online source.
