Hey Guys
Hope this is the right place for this thread :)
Ok, so it was Boxing day and there was a sweet deal on a LG LED television at JB Hifi (42LV3730) and I went ahead and bought it yesterday, could not bring it home right away as I was working so paid for it and collected the set today evening.
Bought it home and all setup and plugged in, sweet, started up and played with it for around 20-30 minutes, checked everything works. Switched it off. Not at the wall but on standby (using remote)
Went to get some groceries and back in approx 40 mins, switched it ON again, again using remote, the red LED turned blue as if it is initializing, thought it might be normal for it to take 1-2 minutes, but nothing would happen!
Have tried unplugging it entirely for 2-3 mins and starting up again, no luck, it starts up, I can hear a buzzing (processor fan - like but very quite) sound at the back, there is a "Click" sound when I power it on & off using remote, but no display/sound whatsoever!!! All buttons on the remote tried to no avail. Input mode change does nothing. Touch panel buttons on the front respond but nothing changes. The screen itself appears as if it has been switched off.
A little background information here :
1. Purchased and installed a Belkin surge protector with the TV and using it through it from the word GO
2. Have tried to see if it would work without the surge protector in a normal power outlet, no go.
3. Have powercycled the unit a few times now.
4. Other electrical appliances are working well with the surge protector.
5. Connecting a USB hard disk to the TV set powers up, the display remains blank though. Means the unit itself is powering up.
Not sure if this some sort of a energy saving thing I might have switched on (unlikely nothing I do can cancel the feature) or is something blown inside the TV. It worked perfectly out of the box for those 15-20 mins but hasnt after that.
Any ideas / suggestions are welcome. About to call LG care tomorrow and see if they have something to add. Also lets see what JB Hifi have to say incase its a unit failure. Will keep you guys posted.
HELP!!!
