Hi

I've been successfully using EPG Collector and Big Screen EPG for a while now but it's fallen over now that the Dunedin Freeview HD frequency has changed.

Updated Media Centre channels with no trouble but not sure where to find a new Dunedin/Mt. Cargill config file


Would love some guidance

You can just edit the EPG Collector ini file you are using.

As you probably know Dunedin frequency is now 562000, 578000 or 594000

DTV32 is frequency 562000 MHz and they go up in 8000 MHz increments.

Hi,

I must just be a bit dense to figure out what to do.
An IT friend helped set the EPG up but I cannot seem to get the frequency to change or find the ini file to change the xml.

Can someone ahem 'dumb it down a little"?

In EPG center the new freq is not listed in the drop down list on the tuning tab hence the ini file change I guess.

I can't find any file with the xml data that looks like that posted from 'thejason'

It  kind of ran but guide hound complained about error 13 on exit.

Ideas?

The easiest way to fix it is to edit the ini file that is being used to run the collections rather than try to change the xml file that is used to set up the parameters.

Load EPG Centre and select View - General Log

Find a line that starts with Processing command line parameter: /ini=

The rest of the line is where your ini file is that runs the collection.

Go to the directory that has the ini file and double click on the file. This should load it up into a text editor and you can then just edit in the new frequency and save the file (trial and error to see which of the 3 new ones works for you).

Thanks for the reply but still no go.
I have tried all 3 frequencies but only 562000 seems to gather data then I get an "fatal exception was encountered while running the importer. Please have a look at the log file for more information." in guide hound. But that's all the log says too...

Argh. This sort of thing should be a native feature of MCE.

Does the EPG Collector log say that it has collected all the data successfully?

Use EPG Centre and View - General log to check it. Go to near the end, the collection messages logged are pretty self explanatory.

Uh oh,
Big fat red failed to acquire signal error.

I have tried changing the tuner in epg setting to the Silicon dust unit from the hauppage pci one but no better.

Its like it is not finding the guide data or signal at all :(

EDIT: Hard to say if the EPG collector has got the data successfully. It looks like it does but the final part in the command window disappears real quick.
