Hey guys, I have a spare mce remote that I want to use to control xbmc on my laptop. Problem is I don't have the receiver...

What's the cheapest way I can get a substitute or replacement for this? Is there a simple universal usb unit or something similar I could use? Would have to be USB come to think of it

Cheers

I got one of these http://www.dealextreme.com/p/driver-free-universal-usb-ir-media-remote-controller-for-pc-2-aaa-27596
and it works really well
You can also connect to the IR it using a logitech harmony remote.
You do ahve to fiddle around abit with the commands, but once you have it teaked it is worth it.

Which model harmony & how tricky was it?  I'm in the process of building an HTPC aswell and already have a Harmony 525, but hadn't decided on a USB IR receiver for it yet.
