Hi all,

I just picked up a much bigger TV than I needed at the Warehouse today: http://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/red/catalog/product/55-Inch-Full-HD-LCD-TV-with-Built-In-Freeview?SKU=1557470

Broadcast TV looks good, but BluRay results in a horrible soap opera effect. I'm assuming this is because of motion interpolation, but I cannot figure out how to turn it off. There is no manufacturer name that I can find in the packaging, though the model is SRO9103.

Any help would be most appreciated!

Thanks,

Mike

You could try feeding your TV 60Hz to see if it still does motion interpolation, or does it only do it at lower refresh rates like 24/25hz from film/movie sources.

Also try to find in the menu anything that has the "motion" or "flow" keyword to it. Some photos of the various menu settings would help too.

Just had a look at their web page and judging from the specs they show it doesn't seem to have motionflow. The response time is given as 6ms which is rather slow. 2ms would be better.
I would suggest you take it back for a refund and go to JB HiFI and pick up a Sony 55ex500 which is advertised at $1267.35 this weekend (15% off sale) and seems to be much higher specs.
